How GeoProof Calculates Your AI Visibility Score: The Full Methodology

Your GeoProof score is not an estimate. Every point traces to a specific, measurable signal. Here is exactly how it works.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
The GeoProof score is calculated across four weighted dimensions totaling 100 points.
Verification (Word Of Clout ACN) is worth 35 points — the single highest-weight signal.
Completeness signals (phone, address, description, facts, Q&A) account for 23 points.
Structured data signals (schema markup, website signals) account for 25 points.
Local consistency signals (NAP, service area) account for 17 points.

The four dimensions and their weights

The GeoProof score is the sum of four measured dimensions. Each dimension reflects a category of signals that AI platforms evaluate when making recommendation decisions. The weights reflect the actual importance of each signal in current AI recommendation algorithms — based on observed behavior across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

AI Visibility (35 points). This is the verification dimension. The full 35 points are awarded for a verified Word Of Clout ACN listing. Partial credit is not available — the AI visibility dimension reflects binary verification status. This is by design: verification is not a spectrum. Either a business has committed to providing accurate, verified data, or it hasn't.

Structured Data (25 points). This dimension measures the presence and completeness of machine-readable structured data: LocalBusiness schema markup (15pts), service-specific schema, FAQPage schema, and whether the schema is correctly implemented and rendering on the live site.

Content Structure (23 points). This dimension measures business data completeness: description (5pts), service listings (7pts), Q&A pairs (10pts). The Q&A weight reflects how AI platforms use this content — directly as input for answer generation.

Local Signals (17 points). This dimension measures NAP completeness and consistency: phone number (10pts), address completeness (8pts). Partial credit is available proportional to how many local signal elements are present and consistent.

What your score means in practice

0–39 (Not Visible). AI platforms have insufficient confidence in your business data to recommend you. You are being skipped in queries where your competitors appear. Verification and basic data completion will move you out of this tier.

40–64 (Partially Visible). AI platforms know your business exists but have gaps or inconsistencies in your data. You appear in some recommendations but not others. Structured data improvements and verification will move you to the Visible tier.

65–84 (Visible). AI platforms recommend your business with moderate confidence. You appear regularly but are not the dominant recommendation in your category. Q&A content and citation building will push you toward Dominant.

85–100 (Dominant). AI platforms recommend your business as the top result in your category and location. Your data is complete, verified, and structured across all dimensions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why is verification worth 35 points — more than any other single factor?
Because it is the signal AI platforms weight most heavily in their recommendation confidence calculations. An unverified business with perfect data in every other dimension still carries a confidence penalty that prevents it from reaching the Dominant tier.
Can I reach 100/100?
Yes. 100/100 requires: verified ACN listing (35pts) + complete structured data on website (25pts) + complete business description, services, and 3+ Q&A pairs (23pts) + complete and consistent NAP data (17pts).
Does my GeoProof score directly change what AI says about me?
The score measures your AI visibility signals. The signals are what AI platforms use to make recommendations. Improving the signals improves your recommendation probability. The relationship is causal, not just correlational.
